The Andean Oak Cask
Pushing the Boundaries or Exploration
For the fourth edition in the Master Blender Collection, Trudiann Branker turned to Andean oak, a non traditional wood choice, to explore another layer of aromatic complexity. The casks were used for 11 months to finish the ageing of a single batch of rums distilled twice in traditional copper pot still and aged 14 years in ex-Bourbon casks.
The result is a delicate, yet opulent blend with layers of spice, nutmeg, vanilla, ripe pear and toasted coconut on the palate. Dominantly vanilla on the nose, Andean Oak Cask offers a spiciness on the palate that perfectly complements the fruity notes of the aged pot still rum. This rum evolves as time goes, revealing layers of flavours over the course of a tasting journey.

I was inspired by the incredible feedback we had following my release of The Port Cask Expression and I wanted to push my boundaries further. Trudiann Branker, Mount Gay Master Blender
Unveil the journey behind the release of Mount Gay The Andean Cask Expression by listening to Trudiann Branker, Mount Gay Master Blender:
When creating this blend, Trudiann Branker worked alongside her R&D team once again, following the acclaim of her forward-thinking Port Cask Expression in 2020. She found virgin Andean oak casks had never been used for Mount Gay, let alone many other spirits, and it was there that her innovation began.
The Master Blender Collection: Andean Oak Cask is bottled at 48% ABV and is non chill filtered in order to preserve its rich aromas and precious natural colour. This expression will be limited to 2,760 bottles worldwide.
The Andean Oak Cask is best enjoyed neat, or with firm caved aged goat cheese.
