Mount Gay, the World’s oldest running rum distillery with a legacy spanning over 320 years, proudly announces the release of the third and fourth editions of its exceptional Single Estate Series, 25_03_Vt24CF and 25_04_Vt19dp.

Crafted by Master Blender Trudiann Branker, this unique dual launch continues and expands the terroir driven series, adding two new chapters as a captivating exploration of rum production, presenting two distinct yet complementary expressions born from the very same Mount Gay Estate sugar cane harvests in St Lucy, Barbados.

In 2015, Mount Gay acquired 324 acres of the historical Mount Gay and Oxford Estates, and for the first time in centuries, the distillery was again a fully vertically integrated operation from cane to bottle. Since then, the team have harvested Estate sugar canes each year, transformed them into molasses, before fermenting, distilling and ageing the distillates at the distillery.

As with the previous releases of Single Estate Series, 23_01_BnQa and 24_02_Vt18d2, Mount Gay’s Estate has been continuously looked after by Master Blender Trudiann Branker. This time, she decided to capture the 2024 harvest with edition 25_03_Vt24CF, and the 2019 harvest with edition 25_04_Vt19dp. Following the legacy of the Single Estate Series, both the third and fourth editions are single-batch rums and are crafted exclusively from 100% sugarcane grown on the historic Mount Gay Estate in St. Lucy, Barbados: this approach allows each bottle to translate the specific terroir of the World’s oldest rum Estate.

“These two new additions to our Single Estate Series are a masterclass in contrast and complementarity. 25_03 is the first unaged rum of the Series, while 25_04 is matured for five years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. Moreover, 25_03 is a 100% Coffey Still distilled rum, while 25_04 is a 100% double pot distilled rum. This year, 2025, presents the fascinating opportunity to experience their two different perspectives of Mount Gay’s heritage and terroir side-by-side.”

“On the vibrant green label of 25_03_Vt24CF, 25 represents the release year, and 03 the release number in the series. Vt24 refers to the single year sugar cane harvest from 2024 used in this expression, and CF stands for the fact that it was distilled in 100% copper Coffey Still.

“On the lively orange label of 25_04_Vt19dp, 25 illustrates the release year, and 04 the release number in the series. Vt19 showcases the single year sugar cane harvest from 2019 used in this expression, and dp indicates that I blended together distillates from two distinct pot still distillations.”

25_03’s green label was inspired by the vibrant green hues of this singular year sugar cane varietal, illustrating the pure expression of the sugar cane through its clear glass. 25_04’s orange label was influenced by Bajan the unique essence of Barbados’ golden hour and the warm Bajan sunsets that embraced the island throughout the 2019 harvest season, against the enigmatic dark glass. Each bottle features a QR code, inviting consumers to delve into the rum-making journey from start to finish.
