HISTORY

1703

Mount Gay was established in Barbados

1770

Rum reigned supreme in the colonial US, with 140 distilleries and importing 3.78 million gallons of rum from places like Barbados

1806

The first Old Fashioned cocktail recipe appeared in a colonial paper calling for ‘spirits of any kind’

It’s safe to assume that rum was the spirit
used in the recipe at the time.

So, let’s get back to the start and hail the original Old Fashioned.
Mount Gay Rum is uniquely equipped to be at the forefront of this Rum Old Fashioned revival and ready to stake its claim as the original spirit in the oldest cocktail.
